Seminar on Investment Promotion for SEE Countries (JICA/UNIDO Joint Programme), 14/27 May 2006

Japan International Co-operation Agency and UNIDO in co-operation with the OECD Investment Compact organised the fifth edition of a training programme on investment promotion for SEE countries in Tokyo, Japan. Investment Promotion Agencies from the SEE countries benefited from an intensive training course which included presentations of the Japanese business climate and investment trends; tools of investment promotion; project appraisal methods using UNIDO’s financial software “COMFAR”; Japanese technology and know-how; and business-to-business contacts with Japanese companies.

In the closing ceremony of this training programme for the SEE Investment Promotion Agencies, Anthony O’Sullivan, Head of the Investment Compact, called for stronger regional cooperation to create a new image of the region as an investment location, application by the IPAs of the acquired knowledge in the day-to-day work, and development of investment projects, especially through Greenfield investment by the Japanese businesses.
