The standardised unemployment rate for the OECD area was 6.2% in October 2008, 0.1 percentage point higher than the previous month and 0.6 percentage point higher than a year earlier.

Composite Leading Indicators signal deepening slowdown in OECD area and major non-OECD member economies

OECD composite leading indicators (CLIs) for October 2008 continue to point to a weakening outlook for all the major seven economies but compared to last month the outlook has significantly deteriorated in the major non-OECD member economies, with China, India and Russia now also facing strong slowdowns.

New simplified access to the OECD National Accounts

The OECD national accounts - GDP and main aggregates - are now available in a new simplified electronic format. Data are derived from OECD.stat, they are updated on a daily basis and they follow the presentation of the publication "National Accounts of OECD Countries, Volume I".

Annual inflation in OECD area drops to 3.7% in October 2008

Consumer prices in the OECD area rose by 3.7% in the year to October 2008, compared with 4.5% in the year to September 2008. Month-on-month, prices fell 0.3% in October, after remaining stable in September.
